Sizes: small - medium - large - xlarge Measurements of the garment:
Bust: ca. 86 cm - 94 cm - 102 cm - 114 cm (in: 33¾ - 37 - 40¼ - 45) Length: 58 cm - 60 cm - 64 cm - 64 cm (in: 22%frac34; - 23½ - 25 - 25) Yarn: 350 - 400 - 450 - 500 g DK-weight cotton, 50 g = approx. 140 meters. Needles: no 2½ mm and 3 mm (UK 12 and 11) (US 1 or 2 and 3). Tension/gauge:
24 sts in pattern on needles no 3 mm (UK 11)(US 3) (slightly stretched) = 10 cm (4 inches) Rib: All front rows: knit 3 sts, purl 1 st. All back rows: as the sts appear: knit to knit, purl to purl. Pattern: row 1( right side): *knit 3 sts, purl 1 st*. Repeat from * to *. row 2, 3, 4 and 5:: as the sts appear - knit to knit, purl to purl.
Row 6: (wrongside row) knit. These 6 rows make the pattern and are to be repeated. Edge stitch: always knit. Back: cast on 101 - 113 - 121 - 133 sts using needles no 2½ mm (UK 12)(US 1 or 2) and work rib between the edge sts 5 cm (2 in) starting and
ending with purl 3 (back row). Change to needles no 3 mm (UK 11)(US 3) and continue working the rib until
work measures 9½ - 10 - 11 - 11 cm (in: 3¾ - 4 - 4¼ - 4¼) ending with a right side row (row 5). Now work the pattern starting
with row 6 i the description. Continue working the pattern
until the work measures 39½ - 40½ - 43 - 42 cm (in: 15¼ - 16 - 17 - 16½) ending with row 6 in pattern.
Now continue in rib pattern. Cast off in both sides for on every 2nd row 6 sts 1 time, 3 sts 1 time,
1 st 3 times and on every 4th row 1 st 2 times = 73 - 85 - 93 - 105 sts.
Continue straight up until armhole measures 9 - 10 - 11 - 12 cm (in: 3½ - 4 - 4¼ - 4¾).
Next row: cast off the middle 3 sts and knit one shoulder each at the time. Cast off at neck side on every 2nd row like this: knit the 1st st, knit 2 sts
together, pull over the 1st st. Repeat this until 11 - 14 - 16 - 19 sts are remaining. Armhole has to measure 18½ - 19½ 21 - 22 cm
(in: 7¼ - 7¾ - 8¼ - 8¾) in height.
Leave the sts for later use. Knit the other shoulder likewise.
Front:cast on 103 - 115 - 123 - 135 sts using needles no 2½ mm (UK 12)(US 1 or 2) and work rib between the edge sts 5 cm (2 in) starting and
ending with knit 1 (back row). Change to needles no 3 mm (UK 11)(US 3) and continue working the rib. Now work as described for the back (always start and end the row with purl 1)
until armhole. Cast off 7 sts each side for armhole and continue armhole shaping as for the back, At the same time as casting off for armhole cast off the middle
3 sts for front neck and knit each shoulder one at the time. Cast off 1 st at neck side on every 2nd row until
18 - 20 - 23 - 25 sts remain and then on every 4th row until 11 - 14 - 16 - 19 sts remain and the armhole has reached the same height as on the back.
Knit the other shoulder likewise.Sleeves: cast on 71 - 79 - 87 - 95 sts using needles no 2½ mm (UK 12)(US 1 or 2) and knit rib (begin this back row inside edge st with
knit 1, purl 3) for 3½ - 3½ - 4 - 4 cm (in: 1½ - 1½ - 1¾ - 1¾), ending with a right side row.
change to needles no 3 mm (UK 11)(US 3) and knit pattern starting with row 6. After 6 rows increase 1 st each side. Repeat increasing for every 8 rows
another 2 times which gives 3 times all together = 77 - 85 - 93 - 101 sts on the row.
When the sleeve measures 11 - 12 - 13 - 14 cm (in: 4½ - 4¾ - 5¼ - 5¾)
cast off at both sides on every 2nd row 6 sts 1 time, 3 sts 1 time, 1 st 15 - 16 - 18 - 20 times, 2 sts 2 times,
3 sts 2 times. Cast off remaining sts.
Knit the other sleeve likewise.Make up and neckband: Knit the shoulders together from the back side of the work: knit 1 st from the back shoulder with 1 st from the front
shoulder and cast off at the same time. Knit up for neckband around 154 - 162 - 173 - 181 sts on needles
no 2½ mm starting down at the front but without the 3 bottom sts casted off. Purl 1 row (seen from the right side) and then 2 rows plain knitting.
Next row: knit
13 - 14 - 16 - 17 sts, turn, wool forward over the needle (to avoid a hole), purl back. Next row: knit 25 - 27 - 31 - 33 sts,
at the same time after 9 - 10 - 11 - 11 sts
make a little button-hole. Knit the wool forward on needle together with the next st to avoid a hole, turn, wool forward over needle, purl back.
Next row: knit all sts. Next row: purl 13 - 14 - 16 - 17 sts, turn, knit back. Next row: purl 25 - 27 - 31 - 33 sts, turn, knit back. Next row: purl all sts.
Cast off without tightening the sts. Put the edge at the right side at front bottom upon the left and sew from the wrong side. Stich on a little button.
